💌 Thank you letter to donors of Alegra Africa Solidarity Camp - Uganda (2024)

Dear donors:

From Alegra we want to express our deepest gratitude for your generosity and trust in supporting the project Africa Solidarity Camp - Uganda (2024 Edition) Through iHelp. Thanks to you, this charitable adventure was possible. More than a trip, it was an encounter with life in its most authentic form and a transformative experience for all of us who had the opportunity to participate.

📍 This year, thanks to your donations, we've been able to help the Tororo community:

“On the one hand, we're laying the brick floor at the school where we teach: Sacred Heart. It was a real mud pit. We've done all the work: making the bricks (up to 25.000 of them!), leveling the ground, transporting the bricks to the site, and collaborating with the workers to lay them. The children from the school also helped. It was a great team effort. You can see the process in the photos, and we'll be thrilled to send you the final result in the next post.”

This project has involved a great physical effort, but above all, a human one. The improvement of the school Sacred heart It's been possible thanks to the collaborative work of volunteers, the local community, and students. And that's what truly transforms.

But if there's one thing that has deeply touched our hearts, it's been the visits to the neediest families in the area:

“But what is truly touching our hearts are the visits to the 75 families in different villages. We buy sugar, flour, oil, tea, soap, rice, and beans at the local market. We prepare a bag of food for each family, along with a bag of clothing we brought from Madrid. Thank you also for your material donations. The visit to each family begins with the local catechist; the work of the Church in every corner of Tororo is impressive. He introduces us to the family, tells us about their situation, and we pray for whatever worries them: illnesses, family, etc. We deliver food and clothing and sing a song together. We are impressed by the dignity of all of them in the midst of such poverty, by the joy and play of the children, and by their faith in prayer. At first, what we brought seemed like little, but Don Pablo told us during an Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament that we give two loaves of bread and three fish, and the Lord takes care of multiplying it for the multitude. Surely they have received something that we don't see as the hope, recognition and affection on our part that hopefully has comforted you.

🎒 This project has been a true school of life for our 1st year Baccalaureate students, who have learned that the true meaning of helping is in dedication, empathy and accompaniment.
