2.5km open water swimming challenge

On the 19th of September I will be swimming in open waters for 2.5km from Es Caials to Cadaques in the 2026 Cadaques Marnaton event in Spain
As most of you know, in January this year I underwent an important back surgery following a life changing ski accident. At that time, it felt like the 12 months the doctors gave me for my recovery were going to be eternal. I wasn’t able to move and even speaking left me out of breath.
With limitations on travel and sport, the advice for rehabilitation was swimming. An extremely complete activity, that I hadn’t properly practiced since my school years, and to be frank, not one that had ever been particularly appealing to me. I needed a goal and a challenge, so I decided, following a friend’s recommendation, to register for an open water swim race. Thanks to this, I have managed to keep a strict physio and training schedule for the last six months.
I am now ready.
On 19th September, I will participate in the Cadaques Marnaton and I will be competing in the 2.5km race from Es Caials to Platja Gran in Cadaques. The Cadaques Marnaton is one of the most prestigious and scenic open-water swimming events in Europe, held in the Costa Brava region in Spain. I expect to complete it less than 2 hours.
I have never swam this distance.
I am truly grateful for how supportive everyone has been over the last months. It is humbling to realize how these accidents make you appreciate how invaluable having people around you is when you are going through difficult times. Both mental and physical recovery would have never happened as steadily as it has without you all.
During these months I have also been blessed with the opportunity to help those less fortunate than us through the Sovereign Order of Malta in Spain. I have witnessed the direct effect my actions and that of those in the Order have on people in need. I feel there is much more that can be done.
I would therefore like to ask you to sponsor my race to help me raise funds for a very tangible project that provides homeless people with hot shower facilities and barber services. This project is currently paused as the water heating system has broken and we require the funds to make the appropriate repairs to the systems and showers.
Any donation you feel you can contribute would be greatly appreciated
