EQUIPPING A LABORATORY, EQUIPPING FUTURES!

In Turkana, where hunger and thirst are still the basic needs, education is something new and complicated. We want to make it accessible and dignified!
Since the inauguration of the pioneer primary school in Kokuselei in 2014, we have worked to improve it, involving the families, to attract more students, etc. It has been a challenge due to the pioneering project and the lack of infrastructure and material. But little by little we are making the dream possible:
- 240 children are fed every day.
- 10 teachers accompany the children on their journey.
- 8 primary classes are taught in our classrooms.
- Reinforcement and alternative classes: sports, art, drama, etc. are taught in the afternoons.
This year, the legislation has changed ->NEW CURRICULUM and NEW EDUCATIONAL PLAN: the number of years in primary school has been reduced from 8 to 6 and more importantly, JUNIOR SECONDARY (from 13 to 15 years old) has been added to the same school.
This means a radical change in requirements: we go from 5 to 14 subjects, including all types of sciences and many optional subjects: computer, languages, cooking, sport, etc. It becomes mandatory to build a LABORATORY/LIBRARY in order to make knowledge accessible to all our students.
We are trusting large foundations and companies to help with the construction of the building but, would you like to help us equip it? With a little help we can make a big change: we can buy tables, chairs, microscopes, etc.
We want to invite everyone to help us equip the laboratory: tables, chairs, cabinets, pipettes, experiment material, glasses, gowns, microscope, etc. Any effort, no matter how insignificant it may seem, makes a big difference.
This year we want the lack of access to education not to be a barrier to development and growth. We want all children to be able to enjoy science, information, the ability to marvel at experiments and realities of the body and the world around them. We want to tackle poverty through the right to education!
- A robe: 15 euros, a table 60 euros, a wardrobe 150 euros, it seems like a list for the Three Wise Men but it is an invitation to join this educational project and change the lives of many young people.
