¡¡¡RETO CONCLUIDO!!!

Por mi cumpleaños os invito a ayudar a sacar a estas familias de su situación de pobreza extrema. Nos necesitan.

He creado este Reto por mi cumpleaños para que entre todos salvemos a estas 22 familias de la isla de Lamu. Conozco Anidan y su fundador, Rafa Selas, desde hace años. Hace un par de meses me llamó con una historia terrible: una familia de cuatro hermanos hijos de una mujer con retraso mental estaba en una situación crítica. El menor, Ibrahim, es exactamente de la edad de mi hija Sofía y debe de pesar la mitad o menos que ella. En sus dos años de vida ha entrado y salido varias veces del hospital de Anidan por desnutrición. Cuando hablé con Rafa sobre esta familia Ibrahim estaba al borde de la muerte. Sus tres hermanos (una chica de 8 años y dos chicos de 7 y 10) también corrían graves riesgos ya que nadie se ocupaba de ellos. Los cuatro vivían en una cabaña con la madre y la abuela y dependían de los apenas 30 euros al mes que ingresa la abuela con venta ambulante.

Decidí ser madrina de Ibrahim y comprometerme a seguir siéndolo hasta que sea mayor de edad. Así Sofía tendrá algo parecido a un primo en Lamu. Mi prima Blanca se comprometió a hacer lo mismo con la hermana y espero que los otros dos chicos también tengan padrinos para salir de la calle. 

Esta es sólo una historia dramática de una familia en Lamu. Como ellos hay muchas más, en concreto estas 22 identificadas por Anidan. Os propongo hacer una pequeña contribución para que alguna familia tenga su oportunidad de salir de la miseria y todos los riesgos y terrores que sufren los niños: enfermedades, falta de escolarización, drogas, abusos sexuales…

I have created this Challenge to help 22 families in Lamu, Kenia, that are in desperate need. I have known Anidan and its founder, Rafa Selas, for years. A couple of months ago he called to share a heartbreaking story: this family composed of four children and a mother with severe mental retardation was facing really extreme poverty conditions. Ibrahim, the youngest brother, is barely two years old, the same as Sofía, my daughter. He weights less than half of Sofía and has been continuosly in and out of the Anidan hospital due to severe malnutrition. When Rafa called Ibrahim was on the verge of dying. His siblings aged 7, 8 and 10 were also in great danger and their mother could not take care of them. They all live in a hut with the grandmother who sometimes manages to bring home the equivalent of 30€ per month.

I decided to sponsor Ibrahim for the long run and give Sofía some sort of cousin in Lamu. My cousin Blanca did the same with the girl and I hope that the other two brothers also find sponsors so that they have an opportunity in life. 

This is just the situation of one family out of many that suffer from extreme poverty conditions in Lamu. There are many other like them like the 22 that Anidan has identified. I would like to ask you to contribute so that some of these families get out of misery and the risks that all these children face: malnourishion, drugs, sexual abuse, illiteracy…
